Once you sign up for the Breathwork for Immunity class, our trainers will call you for a free consultation, to help you customize your classes, and pick the timings for your weekly sessions – multiple slots are available each day.
Sessions in this programme use your breath as a tool to help develop focus, calm your mind and enhance your immunity. Sessions start with gentle movements, synchronized with deep breathing to help stretch the hips and upper body, thus allowing them to sit in a cross-legged position for a longer duration and open up the lungs for optimized breathing.
Breathing techniques practised are carefully chosen to help relax the body and mind, by reducing the secretion of stress hormones and elevating healthier chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine. Starting with the basics of how to breathe correctly, we work up to more advanced techniques that activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Certain breathing exercises which will be practised in every session, along with a few new exercises.
Rhythmic breathing exercises help enhance focus and improve your overall brain health, by promoting the growth of new neural connections. Deep breathing exercises also trigger the relaxation responses in the body, lowering your heart rate and blood pressure, making you feel more calm and relaxed.
Controlled rhythmic breathing exercises activate the lymphatic system, which plays an important role in building immunity. When done over a sustained time, these breathing exercises increase NK cells in the body. NK (natural killer) cells are cells which are critical to the body’s immune system.
