Sessions in this programme start off with specific breathing exercises which help reduce stress, by lowering cortisol levels (a hormone responsible for stress) and boosting the secretion of serotonin (also called “happy hormones”). This also calms the nervous system, helping to better regulate our responses to certain situations.
For a large part of these sessions, we will practice meditation techniques such as Mindfulness and Visualization. These techniques help you become aware of your thought patterns and enhance your ability to cope with negative thoughts in a calm manner. They train the mind to deal with stressful situations in a considerate, responsive manner, rather than reacting harshly.
Anger is an emotion we’re quick to snatch up, to avoid less comfortable feelings like confusion, fear and sadness. Regular practice of these meditation sessions will help you learn how to diffuse fear, become comfortable with uncertainty, and dispel anxiety long before you reach a boiling point. In addition to allaying your anger, these sessions improve cognitive function, help build patience, and improve your overall emotional well-being
