Once you sign up for the Yoga & Breathwork for Asthma class, our trainers will call you for a free consultation, to help you customize your classes, and pick the timings for your weekly sessions – multiple slots are available each day.
Sessions include carefully selected stretches, that gently stretch and activate core muscles, without placing undue strain on the lungs. Yoga can be very beneficial for respiratory health, and yoga postures help to expand the chest muscles, encourage steady breathing patterns, and improve circulation, and increase oxygenation of blood.
Different breathing exercises also help you to gain greater control over your breath. Curated sequences of techniques help boost lung function, and expiratory exercises (which involve forceful exhalation) have proven to be especially effective in opening up the airways within the body.
The combination of yoga and breathing exercises also help to improve breath-body coordination, and alleviate panic attacks, which can further contribute to shortness of breath. Research shows that regular practice can substantially decrease a patient’s weekly asthma attacks.
Note: If you are an asthma patient, we would recommend you speak to your doctor before attending this program.
