Sessions in this program use carefully curated sequences of yoga postures designed to ease pain caused by the build-up of tension in shoulder and back muscles. Regular practice will also help to improve strength, mobility and balance in these key parts of the body.
Studies have shown that certain asanas can have a beneficial effect on deep muscle tension, which is often the underlying cause of chronic pain in the core of the body. They help to exercise these areas, improving microcirculation in the spaces between the muscles. Regular practice also helps to stretch and strengthen muscles in the back and the abdomen, that support the spine and stabilize your vertebrae, improving overall strength and basic movement.
Specific stretches also help to lengthen and strengthen muscles in the neck and shoulders and to improve stability, flexibility, alignment, and mobility in various joints, and tendons. The mental benefits of yoga also help to stabilize the autonomous nervous system, which help to quieten the body’s natural stress responses, which may aggravate chronic pain further.
Note: We would recommend you speak to your doctor or physiotherapist before you attend this program.
